Overview
This 5-day Kenya safari with Bush Doctor Safaris is perfectly paced for travelers who want a rich, immersive experience without feeling rushed. Ideal for families, honeymooners, photographers, and solo travelers seeking a dose of “wild therapy,” this journey showcases Kenya’s most diverse landscapes and wildlife highlights.
Begin with the scenic lakes of the Great Rift Valley, where birdlife flourishes and hippos glide through calm waters. Get up close to endangered black and white rhinos at Lake Nakuru National Park before concluding your adventure on the endless savannah plains of the Masai Mara National Reserve, home to the iconic Big Five and dramatic wildlife encounters.
Tour Plan
You will be picked up from your Nairobi location and drive to Lake Naivasha, arriving in the afternoon in time for lunch.
After lunch, choose how to spend your afternoon:
- Enjoy a boat ride on Lake Naivasha, followed by a guided walking safari in a nearby animal sanctuary
or - Relax at your lodge and soak in the beautiful scenery along the lake’s shores
Later in the evening, return to your lodge or camp to freshen up and enjoy a freshly prepared dinner.
Overnight stay at your lodge/camp.
After breakfast, head to Hell’s Gate National Park, one of the most dramatic parks in the Great Rift Valley. Here, you can enjoy optional activities such as cycling safaris and hiking through the famous gorges.
Hell’s Gate is known for its towering cliffs, deep gorges, volcanic rock formations, and geothermal steam vents. Unlike many parks, it allows visitors to explore on foot or by bicycle, offering a unique and adventurous safari experience.
Later in the day, depart for Lake Nakuru National Park and proceed to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast, set out for an early morning game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park. This park is renowned for its strong populations of black and white rhinos, as well as lions, giraffes, buffaloes, and rich birdlife.
After the game drive, return to your lodge to freshen up before continuing your journey to the Masai Mara National Reserve.
Between July and October, the Masai Mara becomes the stage for the Great Migration, as millions of wildebeest and zebras cross the plains and rivers, followed closely by predators.
Arrive in time for lunch and some relaxation.
At around 5:00 PM, Maasai Morans (warriors) will guide you on a walking safari, followed by a cultural visit to traditional Maasai communities, offering insight into their customs and way of life.
Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge or camp.
Today’s schedule is flexible and planned with your Bush Doctor Safaris guide.
Option 1:
After breakfast, depart around 7:30 AM for a full-day game drive with a picnic lunch. This allows you to explore deeper areas of the reserve, including the Mara River during migration season, before returning in the late afternoon.
Option 2:
Depart at 6:00 AM for an early morning game drive. Return for breakfast and relaxation, then head out again at 4:00 PM for an afternoon game drive. Return to the lodge by 6:30 PM for dinner and overnight stay.
